Includes many materials on the Quebrada Blanca and Collahusi Projects, exploration for Minera Rayrock, Inc., and projects in the Butte, Montana, and Bingham, Utah, mining districts.

John P. Hunt was born in Los Angeles, California and educated at Cornell University (A.B. 1953) and The University of California, Berkeley (Ph.D. 1957). From 1957-1964 he worked for Andes Copper Mining Co. in El Salvador, Chile, before transferring to The Anaconda Co. where he worked until 1973, at which point he was serving as Chief Geologist and also Vice-President for their Primary Metals Division. In 1973 he left Anaconda to become a research associate at the Scripps Institute in La Jolla, Calif., and in 1977 he founded his own geology consulting firm, Hunt Exploration, Inc.
